Keep the claim literal

An ammonia-free statement identifies a specific formulation claim. It does not mean that a product contains no ingredients capable of causing a reaction or that it is appropriate for every user. The same discipline applies to vegan,natural-sounding names and ingredient exclusions. Read the actual selected product's complete information rather than treating a front-panel phrase as a medical conclusion.

Identify every component list

A kit can have separate colorant, developer and conditioner ingredient lists. Reading only the colorant panel may miss information about other included products. Keep the component name attached to each list and match the country and version. A retailer summary can be incomplete or revised;the received package and exact manufacturer information remain necessary for an individual question.

Do not make a PPD substitution claim

The selected products have different ingredient records. A statement about the presence or absence of one named dye ingredient does not establish that an alternative formula is allergy-safe. This site does not diagnose an allergy, interpret chemical cross-reactivity for an individual or recommend a substitute ingredient system. If a reader has a previous reaction or a medical concern, the product warning and appropriate professional advice take precedence over a shopping comparison.

A label-reading example

A shopper sees zero ammonia on a Natural Instincts listing and assumes that the allergy-alert section no longer applies. That conclusion does not follow from the claim. Read the selected warning section independently. Do not delete a test requirement from a saved checklist because a marketing banner appears reassuring. The product tool deliberately provides no safe-formula score or personalized ingredient filter.

Separate evidence from language

Brand performance and comfort language should remain attributed to its actual source. We have not conducted irritation testing, clinical assessment or a comparative safety study on these kits. A generic sealed-package photograph cannot supply that evidence. Even an uneventful previous personal experience would not establish a universal guarantee or replace the current product's instructions.

What to do with uncertainty

Save the exact ingredient panel and component identity, then ask the manufacturer or an appropriately qualified clinician the specific unresolved question. Do not omit inconvenient ingredients or merge lists across shades to simplify the record. This reference can help organize buying information, but it cannot clear a product for a person, certify pregnancy safety or promise that a test eliminates every possible reaction.

Do not publish a universal safe alternative list

A list ranked by a single excluded ingredient would require evidence and individual context that this shopping reference does not have. A short ingredient comparison can accurately identify text while still being unable to recommend a safe replacement. Keep the question narrow:which exact component list was checked, and what claim did its source actually make? Do not use a green badge, score or reassuring image to imply a clinical conclusion. If a formula changes, the old list also needs rechecking;an ingredient exclusion should never become a permanent approval attached only to a brand name.

Checked November 4, 2026. Manufacturer and retailer references support the specific statements. Dated displayed prices are not final checkout quotes, performance rankings or performance testing. This shopping reference does not replace the exact product label or qualified individual advice. Full matched leaflet and independent clinical/content review remain pending.
